Fee Estimates

Adoption costs can vary depending on the unique details of your situation. Fees are subject to change. For the most accurate and up-to-date fees, schedule a consultation with an Adoptive Family Coordinator today.

In some situations, Adoption Answers may choose to waive fees. This could happen for several reasons, such as aiding in the finalization of a hard-to-place case or other special considerations. Because of this, it is possible for any fee category to be as low as $0 depending on the circumstances.

For any journey, you can plan for expenses in the following categories and ranges:

Home Study

The home study is one of the first things a potential adoptive family will complete. Home studies can cost anywhere from $900 to $3,000.

Agency Administration/Placement

Our agency staff handles all paperwork, administration and other important clerical work to give your adoption the best chance of success. This allows you to focus on what matters most – cultivating a meaningful relationship with the birth parents and preparing to start your family. The Administration/Placement fee can be $12,000 but can also be waived in special situations.

Counseling – Birth Parents

Placing a baby for adoption is one of the most difficult choices a woman can make. If needed, adoptive parents may be asked to cover the costs of counseling for the birth parents. This Counseling fee can be $1,000 but can also be waived in special situations.

Legal Counsel

Legal counsel is needed for both the birth parents and adoptive parents. It is important for each to have individual representation to ensure the adoption is completed in the most ethical and legally sound way. In total, legal fees can range from $5,000 to $10,000+, but can also be waived in special situations.

Birth Parent Living Expenses

Birth parents in Texas are allowed to receive certain living, medical, legal and other financial assistance throughout the adoption process. The amount depends on the unique details of each situation. Birth parent living expenses can range from $0 up to $25,000.

Medical

Adoptive families are responsible for the medical costs of the birth parent and child during the adoption process. Medical costs can vary depending on the situation, insurance coverage, birth details (such as a needed NICU stay) and more. Families can plan for medical costs ranging from $1,000 up to $25,000+.
